Traditional media (also known as above-the-line (ATL) media or offline media) refers to TV, radio, cinema, newspapers, magazines (collectively called print media), and out-of-home media (billboards, trains, buses, taxis, etc). In a nutshell: it means advertising in the real world instead of in the digital world.

Think it sounds old school? Think again.

Traditional media is still the golden standard for advertising. It delivers fame and brand equity, making your business a household name with the masses. It is also the most trusted way of changing perceptions and lowering adoption barriers. Being seen, heard and felt in the real world goes a long way in creating a lasting impact on your target audience. Here's how traditional media still delivers results:

Radio reaches 97% of all Malaysians and effectively changes key brand perceptions. With the majority of Malaysians tuning in to almost 15 hours of radio weekly, it’s the best place for brands to advertise locally.

A 2015 consumer report by Nielsen shows that 6 in 10 Malaysians consume more traditional media than anything else (68% newspapers, 64% magazines, 63% TV). Print ads are seen by at least 75% of readers for an average of 2.2 seconds – more than double that of digital ads.

As many as 71% of consumers look at roadside billboards and 56% of them talk to their friends and family about what they saw.

Television dominates over other media when it comes to driving sales. It still commands 88% of total video time among persons over 18 years old.

Contrary to popular belief, advertising is not a zero-sum game where one medium trumps another. In fact, we agree with marketing experts who say integrating your offline and online marketing efforts is the key to success. Instead of putting all your eggs in one digital basket – almost half of all online ads are never actually seen – the best marketing strategy is to optimise your content across online and offline channels.

We only provide the marketplace solution for media owners to list their ad space inventory. We source traditional ad space directly from TV, radio, cinema, newspaper, magazine, and out-of-home (OOH) media owners. We do not own any ad space.

Booking Ad Space

  1. Browse: Use our campaign planner and map view to find the best media that suit your needs. You can narrow your choices down by campaign period, location, budget, reach, and audience demographic. If you need help figuring out your media buy, you can always check out our tips or write to us.

  2. Book: After making a booking, you'll receive an email with your booking request (this is also your invoice). Review your booking details and confirm that everything is correct. Our team may contact you if we need more information on your booking.

  3. Pay: After confirming your booking details, follow the instructions to make payment. You have 5 working days from the date your booking request is received to make payment. Otherwise, the booking will automatically be cancelled. Once the payment has gone through, you’ll receive an email confirmation saying your booking has been submitted to the media owner.

Your ad must comply with the advertising regulations of the country in which your ad will appear. We recommend that you get to know the regulations of your chosen media (radio, newspaper, magazine, TV, out-of-home) before creating your ad.

Also, before your ad can go live, your ad materials might need to be submitted to the relevant regulatory board for approval. Don't worry, your media owner (or agency) will take care of all ad materials submission to the regulatory board for you. Before your ad can go live, your ad materials might need to be submitted to the relevant regulatory board in that country for approval. Don't worry, your media owner (or agency) will usually take care of this for you. You can find all details in the terms and conditions of your booking confirmation.

Once your booking has been confirmed, you can start working on creating your ad materials right away.

Step 1: Ad materials creation

Prepare the ad materials based on the media owner's requirements (see the 'Ad Specs' section on each media profile).

Step 2: Ad materials approval

Send the final draft of your ad materials to AdEasy. Your materials will be submitted to the media owner and/or a regulatory body for approval. A friendly heads up: It doesn't happen often, but you may have to rework your ad materials a couple of times before getting the final green light. Here's how it works:

  • Radio: The final script needs to be sent to the radio station for approval. AdEasy will send your materials to the radio station for you.
  • Newspaper & Magazine: A PDF, JPEG, or PNG file of the confirmed artwork needs to be sent to the publisher for approval. AdEasy will send your materials to the publisher for you.
  • Billboard: Same as print. But since billboards are out-of-home (OOH) media, the billboard owner will also send the artwork for approval from the city council governing the area where the billboard is located. AdEasy will send your materials to the billboard owner for you.
  • Cinema: The final cut of the video needs to be sent to the cinema operator for approval. The cinema operator will send the video to the relevant regulatory body(s) for approval. AdEasy will send your materials to the cinema operator for you.
  • TV: Same as cinema.

Important for cosmetics, medicinal and related products containing health claims: You'll need approval from the relevant regulatory body(s), e.g. the National Pharmaceutical Regulatory Agency, Medicine Advertisements Board, the Ministry of Health, etc. before running your ad.

Step 3: Ad materials submission

After your ad materials have been approved, your ad materials can be submitted! This is the final step before the go-live. Ad submission depends on how the media owner prefers to the materials to be delivered – directly or through a network. The good news? AdEasy will take care of all ad deliveries for you.

The deadline for materials submission can be found under the 'Booking Policy' section of every media profile page. You should always book your ad space well ahead of your campaign start date.

Payment

Payments can be made via direct bank transfer to our account or by cheque. All payment instructions can be found in your booking request (which is also your invoice). After receiving your booking request, you have 5 working days to make payment or the booking will automatically be cancelled.

Once the payment has gone through, you'll receive a confirmation email indicating that your booking request has been submitted to the media owner.

We currently accept direct bank transfers and payments by cheque – but we're working on adding a checkout feature with more payment solutions.

We help you deliver your ad materials for an ad delivery fee. All you have to do is submit your ad materials to AdEasy by a certain deadline. We'll take care of delivering the ad materials for you. You can find all instructions for materials submission in the terms and conditions of your booking confirmation.

For submissions through ad delivery networks, we partner with Adstream Asia OnTime and Datamation EADS for digital transmissions.

For direct deliveries, we manage the email, pick-up and delivery of submissions for you.

The total ad delivery fee is automatically calculated in your booking request (which is also your invoice) and is based on the media type, number of ad materials, and delivery method.

Your payment first goes to AdEasy. We hold the payment from the beginning of your booking process until your ad goes live.

If your booking isn't accepted by the media owner, we'll automatically convert your payment to AdEasy credit on your AdEasy account so you can easily use it for a new booking. You can always request for a refund directly to your original payment method.

Refunds & Cancellations

Simply email us at sales@AdEasy.co to make a cancellation request and our team will get right back to you. All cancellations should be made within 10 working days from the payment date of your booking. Cancellations are subject to the terms and conditions in your booking confirmation from the media owner. Don’t worry, we don't charge cancellation fees.

If your booking has been declined by the media owner or has expired, your booking request will automatically be cancelled and no charges will be made. You have 2 options to choose from:

  1. Make a new booking within 5 working days after the booking rejection date. Your payment will automatically be converted to AdEasy credit so you won't have to make another payment for a new booking. If the new booking is cheaper or more expensive, we'll reimburse or bill you the difference respectively.
  2. Get a full refund within 15 working days after the booking rejection date.

Here are the conditions for getting a refund after canceling a booking:

  • If you cancel before the media owner approves your booking AND within 5 working days of your initial booking. – 100% refund
  • If you cancel after the media owner approves your booking EITHER within 10 working days from date of payment OR within the cancellation period set by the media owner, whichever timeframe is shorter. – 100% refund
  • If you cancel after the media owner approves your booking after 10 working days from the date of payment OR after the cancellation period set by the media owner, whichever timeframe is shorter. – No refund

Sorry, no refunds will be issued. We recommend booking your ad space and creating your ad well ahead of your submission deadline. Your materials must be submitted on time for approval or it won't be able to go live.
